From Niagara to Europe: How Ferox Is Taking the Wine Experience Around the World

There are plenty of great wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

But every once in a while, you come across one that seems to think a little bigger.

Ferox by Fabian Reis is one of those wineries.

Located right here in Niagara wine country, Ferox has built its reputation around expressive wines, German winemaking heritage and a modern approach to the wine experience. And this year, Ferox is taking that experience far beyond Niagara.

They're taking it all the way to Europe.

A Niagara Winery, A European Adventure

In March 2027, Ferox is hosting an exclusive Rhine & Moselle Splendors river cruise aboard Ama Waterways, travelling from Luxembourg to Basel through some of Europe's most spectacular wine country.

The seven-night journey winds through Luxembourg, Germany, France and Switzerland, with vineyards, medieval villages, castles and historic wine regions surrounding the route.

But this isn't simply a vacation where a winery happens to have its name attached to the itinerary. Ferox's Fabian and Stephanie Reis are actually hosting the experience, bringing their knowledge of wine, food and winemaking along for the journey. And that's what makes it so interesting.

Wine Doesn't Have Borders

Fabian Reis comes from a long line of German winemakers, and that heritage makes the Rhine and Moselle an especially fitting destination for Ferox.

The cruise travels through some of the world's great wine landscapes — including the Moselle Valley, where Riesling is particularly prominent — while visiting places such as Trier, Cochem, Rüdesheim, Strasbourg and the vineyards around Breisach.

For Ferox guests, the wine experience doesn't stop when they leave Niagara.

There will be exclusive onboard wine sessions with Fabian and Stephanie, opportunities to explore local wine culture and even a Wine & Food Pairing Dinner featuring wines personally selected by Stephanie from Ferox.

In other words, they're bringing a little piece of Niagara with them.

And we think that's pretty cool!

From Vineyards to Riverboats

One of our favourite things about this itinerary is how closely it mirrors something we believe in at BuzzBikes:

The best way to experience wine country is to actually experience the landscape around the wine.

The Rhine and Moselle cruise isn't just about arriving at wineries.

It's about seeing the steep vineyard-covered hillsides.

It's about passing medieval villages.

It's about discovering castles perched above rivers.

It's about tasting wines where they've been made for generations.

And yes — there are even opportunities for cycling through the vineyards and countryside along the way.

That's something that immediately caught our attention.

Because whether you're exploring Niagara-on-the-Lake on an e-bike or travelling through the Moselle Valley in Germany, there's something special about slowing down enough to actually see the wine country you're visiting.

The Ferox Difference

What we also find particularly interesting about Ferox is that they're not treating wine as simply something you drink.

They're treating it as an experience!

Wine.

Food.

Travel.

Culture.

History.

People.

And the places where all of those things come together.

That's exactly the kind of thinking that makes Niagara-on-the-Lake such an incredible destination in the first place. And it's one of the reasons we love seeing local businesses like Ferox finding creative ways to introduce people to the world of wine.

And It Starts Right Here in Niagara

Of course, the irony isn't lost on us.

You don't have to travel to Germany, France or Switzerland to experience an incredible wine-country adventure.

You can start right here. In Niagara-on-the-Lake.

You can ride through vineyard-lined country roads, past orchards and honey farms, stop at small family-owned wineries, discover hidden gems, enjoy a long lunch and spend an afternoon exploring the countryside on an e-bike.

That's what we're trying to create at BuzzBikes.

Not simply a way to get from one winery to another.

A way to experience Niagara wine country.

And seeing what Ferox is doing in Europe is a pretty great reminder of just how much potential there is when you combine wine with travel, adventure and a little curiosity.

We'll See You on the Road!

One of the things we love about Niagara's wine community is how interconnected it can be.

A winery can introduce visitors to a vineyard.

A vineyard can introduce them to a local restaurant.

A restaurant can send them down a country road.

And somewhere along that road, they might discover their new favourite winery like FEROX!

That's the kind of tourism ecosystem we believe in.

Local businesses working together to create experiences that visitors remember.

And when a Niagara winery like Ferox can take that philosophy and build an entire European adventure around it, that's something worth celebrating.

So if you're a wine lover, a traveller, a cyclist — or ideally, all three — keep an eye on what Ferox is doing.

And if your next adventure doesn't take you down the Rhine or Moselle, don't worry.

There are still plenty of beautiful vineyard roads waiting for you right here in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Just bring your curiosity.

We'll bring the e-bike!
