🚴♀️ Choosing Your Perfect eBike Tour Route in Niagara-on-the-Lake with Buzz Bikes
If you’re planning an unforgettable day of cycling and sipping through Niagara-on-the-Lake’s wine country, Buzz Bikes has you covered. Before you hop on your e-bike, there’s one important thing to know:
You can’t do it all in one day!
That’s because the region’s 60 wineries are spread across three distinct clusters — each with its own charm, scenery, and hidden gems. To make the most of your time, you’ll ideally want to choose one area per day for your e-bike adventure.
Let’s break down the three main winery regions:
🍇 1. The St. Davids Area
(SOUTHERN CLUSTER)
Scenic Hills and Boutique Estates
Tucked along the Niagara Escarpment, St. Davids is a dream route for those who love quiet countryside roads, gentle hills, and small, family-run wineries. This area feels like a step off the beaten path.
You’ll find passionate winemakers crafting small batches, often only available right at their vineyards. The views of the escarpment are spectacular, and the slower pace makes for a relaxing, countryside ride.
Perfect for: Riders who love scenic backroads, boutique wineries, and fewer crowds.
Buzz Tip: One of our all time favourite wineries is here: Ravine Vineyard!
🍷 2. Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake
(NORTHERN CLUSTER)
Classic Charm and Pedal-Friendly Routes
The Old Town area is the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake — charming, historic, and full of energy. The wineries here are closest to downtown, making this the best choice if you want to mix in some shopping, dining, and sightseeing with your tasting tour. You'll find a mix of well-known vineyards and smaller, artisanal producers tucked behind tree-lined streets. The roads are mostly flat and bike-friendly, making it an easy ride for all skill levels.
Perfect for: First-time visitors, couples, or groups who want a social, easygoing experience.
Buzz Tip: Start early! Old Town routes are popular and can get busy by afternoon. Make sure to stop by the Illustrious mainstays here: Two Sisters, Peller and Inniskillin.
🍾 3. The Virgil Wine Route
(CENTRAL CLUSTER)
Hidden Gems and Country Roads
If you want a mix of relaxed country vibes and some of Niagara’s most underrated wineries, head toward Virgil. This area sits between St. Davids and Old Town, and it’s full of small producers, open fields, and quiet roads that are perfect for an e-bike cruise. Virgil’s wineries tend to be family-run, creative, and often a little off the radar — making this an amazing route for returning visitors or those who want to explore beyond the usual stops.
Perfect for: Curious tasters, returning guests, or anyone who loves finding “the ones no one knows about.”
Buzz Tip: Many Virgil wineries have tasting patios — the ideal mid-ride refresh stop. A few of our other favourites are here: Gretzky's, Trius and Bella Terra.
🚴♂️ How to Choose Your Route
When booking your e-bike rental with Buzz Bikes, think of your ride as a day in one region — not a race across them all. Each cluster can easily fill 3–6 hours of leisurely cycling, tastings, and photos. Plan your stops and tastings as you desire, and take your time enjoying Niagara’s beauty one sip, one view and one pedal at a time.
